Tacoma’s Own Non-Profit Yoga and Healing Arts
Center Brings Their Fourth Annual Summer Sun Relay to Wright Park on July 19th
Tacoma, WA Since opening in September of 2010, Samdhana-Karana Yoga (aka SKY) has
hosted one of their main annual fundraising events, the Summer Sun Relay, in
Wright Park. They return again for the fourth year running on July 19th
from 11am to 3pm.
The
Summer Sun Relay is a team event, wherein each team completes a total of 108
sun salutations. Last year, there were over 100 individual participants and 15 teams
who collectively raised $6,500. This year the goal is to raise $8,500. Families with children welcome! We'll have a kids set of Sun Salutations, as well as a gentle set and a modified set. Teams often don costumes, and we'll have a facepainter on site. A spirited and joyful time for all!
All
money raised goes to support SKY’s programs which aim to make yoga accessible
and available to a wide variety of people. Through yoga scholarships,
lower-than-average individual class prices and monthly passes, and a variety of
class offerings for people of all abilities and skill levels, they work to
fulfill this mission.
If you’d
like to participate but don’t have a team, you can show up and find a team at
the event. Practitioners of all ages and skill level are welcome.
